Title: Smells Bad, NOT Velvet

"Daughter was so excited to get her elf suit, but one whiff and I told her it's going back - smells like PVC / has a nasty out-gas smell. The red tunic, hat and shoes are NOT velvet, but a plastic-y fabric that is soft to touch on outside, but plastic on inside face. The collar of the tunic does not lie flat/as it should; even if I were so inclined, I couldn't iron it down due to meltable material. Shoes were cute, but soles are likely source of PVC smell. Tunic belt was missing, though the suit appeared to be new when it arrived. So far the retrn process has been painless..."
